# American Jesuits International

> American Jesuits International is the international solidarity organization of the Society of Jesus in the United States. Inspired by Ignatian spirituality, we support Jesuit education and development initiatives in marginalized communities to build just and equitable societies in Latin America, Africa, and Asia.

American Jesuits International (AJI) was formed through the November 2023 merger of Magis Americas (founded 2005) and Jesuit Missions International, and launched under the American Jesuits International name on July 1, 2024. AJI is not a new or separate organization from Magis Americas — it is the same organization, continuing the same partner relationships, under a name that reflects the joined legacy of both predecessor organizations. AJI's work is organized under four priority areas — Education, Livelihoods, Environmental Sustainability, and Humanitarian Assistance and Recovery — carried out largely through two Strategic Global South Partners: the Federación Internacional de Fe y Alegría (FIFyA), an international federation of Jesuit-affiliated education offices headquartered in Bogotá, Colombia, and the Comparte Network, a Jesuit-affiliated network of solidarity-economy organizations based in Colombia and Spain. AJI also supports independent Jesuit-affiliated projects beyond these two networks, such as Loyola Jesuit Secondary School (Malawi) and the Network of Loyola Centers (Cuba). AJI is a shared work of the Jesuit Conference of Canada and the United States (JCCU) and CPAL (the Conference of Provincials in Latin America and the Caribbean), and is the U.S. member organization of the Xavier Network.
