American Jesuits International, previously Magis Americas, is working with a community of friends in Miami to share the important work of Fe y Alegría and fundraise on their behalf. Fe y Alegría is an essential strategic partner of American Jesuits International. Our commitment to supporting their growth and success starts as early as 2005 during the earliest formulations of our organization. Friends of Fe y Alegría in Miami is a clear example of this historic and valued relationship with Fe y Alegría.

For many years, this group of friends has organized galas, golf tournaments, and many other activities in support of Fe y Alegría. However, the event with the greatest reach and visibility is, without a doubt, an annual Miami Marlins baseball game. For the past three years, a portion of the tickets for the Venezuelan Heritage Night at Loan Depot Park has been donated to Fe y Alegría Venezuela thanks to hard work of Friends of Fe y Alegría in Miami.

On July 20, the Venezuelan community in Miami mobilized for a good cause. The Venezuelan Heritage Night organized by the Miami Marlins, turns a cultural celebration into a charity event. For the third year, part of the tickets for the Marlins-Mets game will be donated to Fe y Alegría Venezuela.

This collaboration between the Miami Marlins and Fe y Alegria is only possible thanks to a very committed community that supports our strategic partners from Miami. The Friends of Fe y Alegria in Miami are a group of professionals interested in expanding the impact of the quality education provided by Fe y Alegria. Most of the group is part of the Venezuelan diaspora community living in Miami, and in this way they continue to contribute to the social transformation of their country, investing in the transformative power of education.

Dani Villanueva, S.J. celebrated a Mass of Thanksgiving for Fe y Alegría in the parish of Our Lady of Guadalupe.

Fr. Dani Villanueva, S.J., General Coordinator of the International Federation of Fe y Alegría, was in Miami this week and, in addition to multiple meetings and media interviews, he celebrated a Mass of Thanksgiving for Fe y Alegría in the parish of Our Lady of Guadalupe. “Friends groups like the Friends of Fe y Alegria in Miami are fantastic examples of the generosity that helps our schools ensure that all children have access to a quality education, regardless of their circumstances,” says Fr. Villanueva. “Whether they are diaspora communities in places like the United States or groups of friends who support Fe y Alegría within their own city, we can all contribute to transformative education.”

In the United States, Fe y Alegria is supported by American Jesuits International, the international solidarity organization of Jesuits in the United States. Our organization is working to encourage individuals and communities to support the Fe y Alegría, and we are also a key link to larger foundations and corporations that support this international federation.

Nate Radomski, Executive Director of American Jesuits International, accompanied Father Dani on his visit to Miami. “We are very grateful to the Venezuelan community in Miami for all their generosity,” said Radomski. “Whether it’s this annual Venezuelan Heritage Night and Marlins game, in private donations throughout the year, or offering their talents and contacts, the Friends of Fe y Alegría are always supporting Fe y Alegría Venezuela, the International Federation, and American Jesuits International. We couldn’t be more grateful for all they do.”
