Every Dollar Makes a Difference

The earthquakes have created significant humanitarian needs, affecting educational communities, school infrastructure, and the homes of many families connected to these centers.

We are working with our partners in Venezuela—including Fe y Alegría Venezuela—to conduct rapid assessments and mobilize emergency assistance.  Every donation will help our Jesuit partners respond, rebuild, and continue their essential programs.

The Impact on Fe y Alegría

In the affected region, Fe y Alegría Venezuela operates 39 schools serving more than 21,200 children and young people through formal and non-formal education, school meal programs, and other essential services. This network is supported by more than 3,000 staff members, including approximately 1,000 teachers.

While evaluations of the schools are still underway, it is clear the need will be great. From sustaining our partners in their immediate moment of need to helping them rebuild and continue their essential work, the Jesuits are on the ground now and will remain in these communities long after this crisis subsides.

In Solidarity with our Partners

How you can help right now.

Our Jesuit partners, including Fe y Alegría, are conducting rapid needs assessments in the communities impacted by the earthquakes. As the scope of the damages become apparent, we are receiving hourly updates and have launched a shared response with the Xavier Network to address the most urgent humanitarian needs and ensure that aid reaches the most vulnerable and remains available until all families have recovered from this crisis.

The most urgent needs include safe shelter, access to clean water, food, healthcare, and protection for families.

Urgent Call for Donations

Following the news of the destructive twin earthquakes in Venezuela, Nate Radomski, Executive Director of American Jesuits International, released a statement highlighting the immediate concerns from our partners and ways for supporters to donate. In his letter, Nate shared:

Even as the earth trembles around them, Fr. Alfredo Infante, S.J., the Provincial of the Jesuits in Venezuela, reminds us of God’s enduring presence in the midst of catastrophe:

“God is our refuge and our strength, an ever-present help in distress. Thus we do not fear, though earth be shaken and mountains quake to the depths of the sea.” – Psalms 46:2-3

Please consider donating to this urgent need and standing with the people of Venezuela. Early donations allow our partners to quickly offer life-saving assistance and continue to accompany communities as they rebuild their homes, their schools, and their lives.
