Standing Up For Girls Education

Global Solidarity, Local Impact

As a mother and a grandmother, I know how important a good education is for all girls. As a board member of American Jesuits International, I have seen how many barriers stand between girls in Latin America and the education they deserve. Now, I am standing up for them and their futures. Join me!

Help Me Support Girls Empowerment!

Give Today,  So Girls Can Succeed Tomorrow

I am raising money for American Jesuits International to support girls education programs in Latin America.

Together, we are working to ensure every girl has access to quality, transformative education that will empower her for lifelong success.

Stories of Hope

One life, one family, one community at a time.

If you want to understand how American Jesuits International is defending the right to education for girls in Latin America, you need to meet the girls and young women whose lives have been impacted by our work.

Young girls like Johana, who wants to be a teacher when she grows up but unpaved roads, power outages, and constant flooding closes her school on a regular basis; Mothers like the woman I met in Ecuador, who shared how her school community became a place for her daughter to learn and feel welcome, regardless of her disabilities; Educators like Mariela, who is empowering young women to learn a new trade, like sewing and other textile skills, so they can find meaningful employment upon graduation.

All of these stories reflect a commitment to empowering and uplifting young women and girls. That is the work I need your help to support!

Give Monthly

Looking to join me and the American Jesuits International team in our ongoing work to support girls education in Latin America? Become a monthly donor and sustain our work today, tomorrow, and towards a brighter future.

We are working toward meaningful changes on three levels where our partners operate: the international network level, the national “social center” level, and  the grass roots producer organization level. Inspired by this vision of scalable impact, we invite you to commit yourself to one of three giving levels. Each month, your donation will connect you to our ongoing work and sustain meaningful work throughout Latin America.

How are we supporting girls in Latin America?

Rooted in their communities, Inspired by Jesuit Values

Across Latin America and beyond, the Jesuits support education as a pathway to dignity, opportunity, and long-term transformation. This work is grounded in a simple conviction: Education is the most powerful tool to break the fateful cycle of poverty, inequality and exclusion. That is why the Jesuits’ have been working in education since 1540 and continue to offer quality, inclusive education to students around the world.

Our strategic partner in this work is Fe y Alegría, is an international movement for popular education and social promotion, engaged in supporting lives and processes of transformation through equitable, inclusive, and quality education. Rooted in the Jesuit tradition and a deep commitment to social justice, Fe y Alegría is currently present in 23 countries, working with children, adolescents, adults, indigenous communities, and other vulnerable groups. Their schools and programs are often found in places where access to quality education is limited, creating spaces where children and young people can learn safely and envision a different future.

American Jesuit International is working with Fe y Alegría at every level of the movement, from supporting specific programs and local schools, to regional and international initiatives that impact the entire movement. Together we are working to pursue meaningful and measurable progress in areas such as inclusive education, early childhood education, teacher training, and, with your support, girls education programs.
