In Solidarity with Jesuit Organizations Abroad
Global Solidarity, Local Action
Motivated by our Ignatian values, we stand in solidarity with Jesuit works and initiatives that are responding to the challenges faced by communities in Latin America, Africa, and Asia. We collaborate with local Jesuit organizations by providing financial support and project resources to help them expand their capacity to address the challenges their communities are facing.
With support from generous individuals and organizations in the United States, we are responding to the Jesuit’s call “to go anywhere across the geographical and cultural frontiers where there is need of working with Christ”.

The Right to Quality Education
The Jesuits are often associated with academic excellence. For nearly 500 years, they provided quality Catholic education around the globe.
However, the Jesuits also believe that quality education should not be a privilege reserved for an exclusive minority. Here are just a few examples of the incredible work the Jesuits are doign to provide quality, inclusive education where the need is greatest.
In 1955, Fr. José María Vélaz, S.J. started the first “Fe y Alegría” in a poor neighborhood in Caracas, Venezuela. Since then, Fe y Alegría has grown into the largest network of Jesuit schools in the world, serving mostly poor and marginalized communities in Latin America, Europe and Africa.

In September 2015, the Jesuits opened a co-educational boarding school in a rural area of Malawi, one of the poorest countries in the world, called Loyola Jesuit Secondary School. Dedicated to “forming women and men for and with others,” LJSS is educating students not just to make a living but to make a difference!
Fr. Pete Henriot, SJ, is a Jesuit priest known for his impactful work in social justice, particularly in Africa. As a leader in Zambia’s Jesuit Centre for Theological Reflection (JCTR), he influenced public policy and uplifted marginalized communities. Serving as Development Director at Loyola Jesuit Secondary School for over 20 years, he helped build the school and grow it into one of Malawi’s top educational institutions, providing critical opportunities for those most in need.”
